Senior Medical Director
Job Details
The health plan is currently seeking a Senior Medical Director to add to our senior leadership team. The Senior Medical Director will report to the COO/CEO with a dotted line to the EVP of Medical Policy.
Description
• Strategically sets the agenda for the Medical Directors and Medical Director Assistants.
• Leads, manages and assigns the work for the MD’s and MDA’s.
• Manages resource allocation for client assignments and internal business partners.
• Provides mentoring and coaching.
• Provides executive leadership to support a sales cycle and manage existing business.
• Assists with clinical product development and enhancement.
• Supports Reporting and Analytics, Fraud and Abuse, and Implementation Services requiring medical and clinical oversight.
The final candidate will be a hands-on, experienced leader who has strong people leadership and organizational management skills, high standards of excellence, intellectual curiosity, the ability to practically apply such curiosity into solving business problems, client facing skills and executive presence. This candidate will also need to have or exhibit an ability to achieve the technical knowledge to manage and influence existing clients, support the sales cycle of new clients and manage a team of Medical Directors and Medical Director Assistants. Healthcare experience in a healthcare services company, or a health plan is an ideal background for this person as long as they possess knowledge of policy payment and correct coding principles. In addition, this candidate will need to exhibit:
• Ability to work in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment with a strong bias for deep analysis, timely action and thorough execution.
• Proven success as an executive in a scalable organization that has significant scope, complexity and breadth.
• Knowledge of healthcare payers, policy payment and correct coding knowledge is preferred.
• Understanding of and ability to lead and manage in a matrix environment where team work is essential.
• Strong personal leadership - in terms of the role of a leader, the impact on the company and creating momentum for culture and accelerating the strategy.
• Relationship development skills to forge positive and lasting relationships with key business partners are required.
• Track record in building teams and developing people for success in current and future roles.
• Ability to achieve sustainable results through others, including the development and assignment of other MDs and administrative staff as leaders, mentors, trainers, etc….
• Ability to make good decisions that are strategically relevant to the company’s goals and objectives.
• Proven management skills with experience in managing a professional staff.

Other Information - This position is based in Atlanta, Georgia with some travel involved. Some relocation assistance is available.
